Online tuner FAQ

Is the online tuner free?
Yes, it's completely free, with no account, no sign-up, and nothing to install.
What instruments can I tune?
Any of them. It's a chromatic tuner, so it works for guitar, bass, violin, ukulele, brass, woodwind, piano, and voice.
Do I need a microphone?
Yes. The tuner listens through your device's microphone; just allow access when prompted.
Is my microphone audio private?
Completely. Audio is analysed locally in your browser and is never recorded or uploaded.
What does the cents number mean?
It shows how far you are from the target note, negative is flat, positive is sharp. Aim for zero.
Why won't it pick up my note?
Make sure mic access is allowed and play one clear, sustained note. Background noise can interfere with detection.
What tuning standard does it use?
Concert pitch, A4 = 440 Hz, the standard for most modern instruments.
