How to find the BPM of a song

Find the tempo of any track in three quick steps, no account needed.

Drop your song

Drag an audio file onto the BPM finder, or click to choose an MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC or OGG from your device.

Find the BPM

The BPM detector decodes the audio and analyzes the beat in your browser, then shows the song’s tempo in beats per minute.

Fix half or double-time

If the tempo feels off, tap ½ or ×2, beat detectors often lock onto a half- or double-time pulse, and one tap corrects it.

BPM Finder FAQ

What is a BPM finder?
A BPM finder detects the tempo of a song, its beats per minute. You drop an audio file and the tool analyzes the beat for you, instead of tapping along by hand.
Is this BPM finder free?
Yes. It is a free online BPM detector with no account, no limits, and nothing to install.
Do you upload my song?
No. Your file is decoded and analyzed entirely in your browser, it never leaves your device and is never stored.
What audio formats can I use?
You can find the BPM of MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC and OGG files, any common audio format your browser can decode.
Why does it show half or double the BPM?
Beat detectors can lock onto a half- or double-time pulse, so a 120 BPM song might read 60 or 240. Tap the ½ or ×2 chip to set the correct tempo.
How accurate is the BPM detector?
For songs with a steady beat it is very accurate, a 120 BPM test track reads 120.0. Tracks with rubato or changing tempo are harder; use the ½ / ×2 correction if a reading looks off.
Does it work on a phone?
Yes. The BPM finder works on phones, tablets and computers, just open the page and choose a file.
